The Run-down
Dolly's is a dedication to the client's mother and her Filipino recipes. As a nod to her, the main graphic element is an illustrated reproduction of her photo, and the center around which I built the rest of the brand. Targeting hip, young Torontonians by offering hand-pressed cane sugar mojitos and cocktails, Dolly's is both a trendy neighbourhood attraction and an eatery steeped in family tradition. Dolly's illustration is evasive and coy, introducing a mystery and intrigue we all love when trying out new restaurant experiences. The logo and typography are rough, hand-drawn and funky - much like the lighting and decor of the space. Warm reds and neon pinks crash together in unexpected harmony. The website remains coy as well, only to give users a taste of the experience and allow them access to the address, hours, menu, and reservation system.
